Otium Release Utilistor Version 2

Otium Software Limited the UK based SRM Software Company specialising in delivering storage management in to the realms of SME's have today announced the release of Utilistor Version 2.

This release continues Otium's focus on the SME by delivering a Single Server Edition and a simplified installation process geared to insure companies without skilled IT staff can easily implement and then benefit from the product. Otium have also included some new features normally associated with more costly products. Version 2 includes supported configurations for Windows Clusters and also a new DataMover Utility that allows basic data archiving, data migration and secure deletion.

Andy Brewerton , technical director at Otium explains “We have added powerful new functionality to the Utilistor Suite whilst remaining true to our ethos of delivering products that are simple to install and use. Utilistor DataMover is a prime example. It is a simple tool that provides powerful functionality, what we refer to as user controlled data archiving!”

Brewerton continues “We received feedback from customers that even with a simple product like Utilistor it was difficult to find time to evaluate or install it if the process required any reference to user manuals! We have rectified this in Version 2, implementing a “single button” single server installation procedure, but still allowing customised installation for those users requiring a more advanced configuration.

With Utilistor Version 2, Otium believe they have delivered the first SRM product that can truly be viewed as a standard addition to Windows servers. When delivered in the right way, there is no reason that SRM should not be considered as an integral part of any company's server build, in the same way that backup and anti-virus software is currently viewed.
