U3 GLOBAL DEVELOPER SUMMIT , SAN JOSE , Calif., June 7, 2005 - Otium Software the UK-based storage software specialist today announced its intention to deliver products for the

U3TM smart drive computing platform.

UtiliSyncTM is a successful software product that is already protecting the data of thousands of home and business users across Europe and the US . Users love UtiliSync because once it is installed UtiliSync runs in the background protecting their important data as it is changed or amended. Its ease of use and near invisible operation is the major reason why the product has been so successful.

UtiliSync is often paired and sold with USB memory sticks. It makes for a neat “total” backup solution for PC users. The U3 smart drive computing platform provides an environment to take this solution to another level.

Otium Chief Technology Officer Andy Brewerton is excited by the possibilities. “By working with U3, we will be among the first to deliver true ‘single user backup appliance' type products. UtiliSync for U3 powered USB smart drives will continue to protect data in real time as it changes, further consumers will be able to use the same ‘appliance' across multiple machines to back up the data that has been identified as important.”

Otium has found that the main reason why individuals do not back up their data is due to the backup solution they have being overly complicated or too obtrusive. The reason why UtiliSync works is that it is so simple that people tend to try it and then keep using it. Working with U3 has enabled Otium to give a product already acclaimed for its ease of use, another leap forward in usability. Consumer will plug in the U3 powered USB smart drive and protect important data – it's as simple as that.

Otium will be demonstrating an early prototype version of UtiliSync for the U3 smart drive computing platform at the U3 Global Developers Summit with the intention of shipping a fully functional version in line with the first production shipments of U3 smart drives.
